Caesars Palace Hotel & Casino Resort, Las Vegas. Trip#6 – August 2015.

A Roman Emperor visiting Las Vegas gets stranded in Death Valley, California.

3570 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV, USA.

Caesars Palace is a Roman Empire’s themed Hotel. This iconic luxury Hotel is 4.5 star hotel. with 7 pools, 180 stores at the Forum Shops. an elongated shopping mall. When i arrived in Las Vegas it was raining first time i could not believe it. It stopped raining 10 minutes later.

The property itself is an oldie but a goodie as well. From the moment you walk in through the lobby and see the fountain and massive front desk, from the gaming floor, to the sports book area (my favourite sports book area i have seen so far out of all the hotels i have been to), to their shopping mall, the largest night club called OMINA. I strongly suggest to bring a good pair of walking shoes if you are staying here. They have started to imitate Planet Hollywood buy introducing Go-Go dancers black jack tables near the main front entrance to the right once you hit the casino floor just before OMINA nightclub.

This is so far the largest complex i have stayed at in Las Vegas. I did a lot of walking INSIDE this hotel, never mind the walking outside on the strip.

The Pool at Caesars Palace- Las Vegas NV, USA.

Checked out the pool and it was a hot one that day. Called Garden of the Gods Oasis pool, Its massive in size, they have swim up blackjack at the Fourtuna Pool. We basically stayed by the Neptune pool soak up same rays.

We did our usual walking the Vegas strip and came across a billboard of construction with scaffolding we are walking by and all i hear is, “I got coke yo!, I got Coke yo!”, some low life leaning up against the construction billboard advising passerby He has Cocaine on him. aka a drug dealer looking to make a sale, A while male overweight male with grey hoodie. Later that night i went to the Sports Betting section briefly asked a OMINA night club staff employee setting up the velvet ropes how much is cover for guys tonight and i was told $50 cover. Sometimes the line ups for Omina stretch outside the main lobby doors and rap around building its crazy on the weekends.

Furnace Creek Visitor Centre,
Me outside temp 113F!

The Next day was my Tour to Death Valley National Park. Met at the designated waiting area when this couple from Calgary came by me and sit’s down on the bench next to me, made small talk and then asked “Where the team Lou?! Where’s the team!?” I smirk and laugh and advised “the team is inside gambling away.” The bus arrives and away I go its a long drive to Death Valley. Its a 2hr and 15minute drive, (126Miles) 203km from the vegas strip.

Heat Warning Stop Sign,
Walking tour. Im not the only one braving the heat that day.
Zabriskie’s Point
Me at Zabriskie’s Point.

First stop was at Furnace Creek Visitors Centre with a digital temperature outside that read 113F. Picked up a souvenir. The next stop was Zabriskie’s Point- a paved walkway through sand dunes and rocky terrain. Its a famous viewing point in Death Valley, there are warning signs not to walk after 10AM and at your own risk.

Me at the lowest point in elevation in North America. CA, USA.

Next stop was Bad Water Basin- the lowest point in elevation in North America and its almost prue table salt your walking on. To the right of it is Devils Golf Course- Basically rock salt that has eroded from wind and rain to form jagged spikes. Its not an actual golf course but the theme that the only person who could play golf on it is the Devil himself.

A small pit stop to see Artist drive a display of coloured mountains and it is said it was created by the mentally in the ground.

Artist Drive- coloured mountain rocks.
Created by the Metals in the ground.

As we make one more final stop to see the Dunes i noticed the tour bus going slower and slower down the weaving down a hilly road and the noise of engine getting quite and quite when all of the sudden silence and now the bus is coasting down the hill and pulls over to comes to a complete stop on the side of the road somewhere in Death Valley(this has international incident written all over it.) The tour bus had overheated due to the hot weather in August. The bus driver now has to call the office and advise them of what happened and call for a new bus to come out and pick all 14 of us up and some get the broken tours towed or let it cool off for several hours before someone can drive it back to Las Vegas.

He lets the bus cool off before restarting the bus and getting to Furnace Creek Resort Ranch in Death Valley where the temperature reached 120F in the shade. They had a restaurant and outdoor covered patio. As well all exited the bus to use the washrooms grab a bite and just sit in the shade and wait. we explored the property as we had A LOT of time to kill time.

Death Valley, California, USA- Information Board.
The Ranch we stayed at while the tour bus company got anther bus to take us back to Las Vegas.

Finally after hours of waiting a new bus was brought in and we all boarded it and drove back to Las Vegas, i think i got back to caesars palace around 6-7pm. i was picked up from the hotel at 7AM in the morning. Starving for some real food we went out to eat.

In closing, Caesars Palace was a nice stay and enjoyed my stay. Its on a good location on the strip. i enjoyed my Death Valley trip regardless of what happened.

THE GOOD: My Death Valley tour (minus the bus breaking down) I enjoyed the site seeing

THE BAD: Didn’t get to finish the tour and see the sand dunes (not a big deal)

THE UGLY: The tour bus breaking down and being stuck at some ranch in the middle of nowhere in Death Valley for hours.
